Senior News Journalist - Broadcast and Print
World Affairs
Blue Chip Corporate Specialist
Robin switched to broadcasting in 1989, and began presenting The World Tonight - a programme which complements its more gladiatorial stable mates (Today, The World At One, and PM) with a reflective and less gladiatorial style - but a no less forceful one when prising answers from the great and even the good. Robin also presents BBC World Service's Newshour and, from 1995 until 2007, the award-winning internet-linked global phone-in Talking Point, on which his guests included Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan and Tony Blair.
Since joining the BBC, he has covered many major events all over the world, including the reunification of Germany in 1990, the end of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997.

He has reported on elections from as far afield as Bosnia, Iran, Israel and Russia, and has presented live programmes from more than 20 countries from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.
